About Gene

Gene Goodwin is an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying and participating in soccer, basketball, tennis, football, swimming, baseball and running. He enjoys spending time with his family (including 2 cats and 2 dogs) and taking camping trips to nearby Galveston.

Gene attended the University of Texas at Austin and has degrees in economics, accounting, and finance. Shortly after graduating, he joined the U.S. Navy where he was trained in electronics and mechanics and operated the CIWS defense system aboard the US Navy Cruiser Antietam.

Upon honorable discharge from the Navy, he began a 10-year career in residential home construction. He then developed experience in various construction trades including:

  • rough/finish framing
  • demolition and removal
  • foundation excavation and formwork
  • masonry work
  • onsite grading and drainage
  • deck/balcony installations
  • exterior siding/ interior wall installations
  • tile/wood floor installations
  • kitchen/bathroom remodels

Gene began his inspection business, Gene Inspections, to help homebuyers make informed decisions concerning their new home. Inspections are detailed and inspection reports are informative. The homebuyer is encouraged to attend the inspection and ask as many questions as needed to get a solid understanding of the home.
